Joyn and RCS-e from a developer perspective

In 2012, the big network operators joined forces and presented their common initiative joyn as the next big thing in mobile messaging. joyn puts GSMA's RCS-e standard (Rich Communication Suite enhanced) into reality and includes a whole bunch of services: Instant messaging including group chats, file transfer, VoIP & video telephony. This shall open up a lot of new opportunities for users, but also for app developers who now do no longer have to take care for backend technology or user account management when implementing messaging for example. André examines the technology from a developer's point of view: Which tools are available for app developers at the moment? Is joyn the future of mobile data transfer? The perfect infrastructure for everybody who wants to put innovative app concepts into reality? The end of SMS and WhatsApp?
