Push Notification (Technical Talk)

Push Notification technology is an integral component of any modern smartphone and tablet OS. It has been available on iOS and Android for the last three years and developers are still only scratching the surface of the new kind of user experiences that are enabled by this technology. To start us off, we will take a look at Push Notifications and what is required to make use of this great technology. We will then take a look at how Push Notifications can be employed to provide a more personal, engaging user communication than your average "There is a new item in stock - have a look!" marketing message. Wrapping up, we'll see how it easy it can be to get up and running with Push Notifications using Little Postman-provided client and server APIs. If you also feel that Push Notifications are still in their infancy and want to learn how to get started, what to consider and how to leverage their potential - this is the talk for you!

Speaker: Entrepreneur and tech geek, Benjamin Broll has worked in the mobile industry since 2000. After a rocky start with a mobile service solution provider back in the days where black and white displays seemed ubiquitous, he successfully helped launch Living Mobile GmbH, a Munich-based mobile games company. Since its launch in 2002, Living Mobile grew into one of the major mobile games studios in Europe and was eventually acquired by the Walt Disney Company in 2005. Following three years of fostering Living Mobile’s development skills within Disney, Benjamin co-founded the NEXT Munich GmbH, a Munich-based mobile development agency in 2009. He subsequently established the Berlin-based Little Postman GmbH, to bring push notification technology to the next level.
